Project Overview
Viana’s Restaurant is a commercial concept designed to evoke a romantic atmosphere of a traditional Italian trattoria. The structure features a segmented interior, prioritizing private dining environments and secluded alcoves over high-volume open seating. It is a space designed for quiet conversation and refined culinary experiences.
Design Philosophy
The philosophy for Viana’s is: The Table Talk.
By breaking the restaurant’s interior into smaller, sectioned zones, the architecture provides a sense of domestic privacy within a public commercial setting. The goal was to use classic Mediterranean materials—red brick, warm wood, and rhythmic stone arches—to create a timeless, romantic-first environment.
Technical Achievement
- The Loggia Facade: A manually aligned series of brick-and-stone arches that wrap around the exterior dining terrace, providing both structural depth and a shaded, rhythmic transition from the street to the interior.
- Segmented Internal Program: A complex interior layout that utilizes partitions and elevation changes to create private spaces for each table, ensuring maximum acoustic and visual privacy for diners.
- Atmospheric Texturing: Manual application of ivy, lavender, and warm-toned lighting to soften the building’s urban footprint, harmonizing the heavy masonry with its surroundings.
