Project Overview
The Lion’s School of Arts is a institutional facility designed for musical pedagogy. The structure is organized around a series of acoustically isolated micro-studios, each dedicated to a specific musical discipline. Its architectural identity is defined by Victorian-era aesthetic, blending formal white masonry with a centrally-positioned glass atrium.
Design Philosophy
The philosophy for the School of Arts is: The Illuminated Core.
By centering the entire academic program around a transparent glass ceiling, the design floods the building’s interior with natural light—symbolizing the enlightenment of artistic education. The goal was to create a focused, high-end environment where gold accents and white marble textures inspire a sense of classical prestige.
Technical Achievement
- The Quad-Atrium Light Beam: A manually aligned, centrally recessed glass roof system that serves as a 360-degree skylight, illuminating the interior’s checkered marble floors and gold-trimmed corridors.
- Segmented Studio Logic: A complex interior floor plan consisting of numerous small-scale, symmetrical practice rooms, each manually placed to optimize spatial flow within a compact square footprint.
- Monochromatic Exterior: A sophisticated use of black-and-white material contrast, utilizing dark shingle roofing as a heavy, protective frame for the building’s light-filled, Neoclassical white facade.
