Project Overview
Kyoto Bay is a multi-structure residential enclave that explores the relationship between monumental and micro. The lot is anchored by a large, square primary estate featuring a private walled forest in the tradition of classical Japanese gardens. Along its eastern perimeter, the project unfolds into a curated Neighborhood of five distinct, miniature homes—each a unique exercise in minimalistic, architecture.
Design Philosophy
The philosophy for Kyoto Bay is: The Collection of Perspectives.
By placing five vastly different architectural styles (from contemporary glass to traditional stucco) on a single lot, the design functions as a living catalog of form and function. The goal was to create a town within a lot where individual identity is celebrated within a unified, fortified boundary.
Technical Achievement
- The Walled Core: A primary estate manually enclosed by massive, castle-like fortifications, housing a dense interior forest that serves as a private ecological lung for the complex.
- Multi-Style Satellite Logic: A rigorous manual alignment of five individual Micro-Homes, ensuring that each unique facade maintains absolute symmetry despite its extremely limited footprint.
- The Pedestrian Axis: A central walkway that ties the diverse satellite homes to the primary anchor, requiring precise manual pathing to ensure the entire “neighborhood” functions as a cohesive, walkable social unit.
