Brooks Bridge Starhouse

Brooks Bridge Starhouse: A Study in Celestial Transparency
Project Duration: Approx. 120+ Hours
Methodology: 100% Manual Construction | Non-Generative Design

Project Overview
The Brooks Bridge Starhouse is a high-concept residential project defined by its unique relationship with the sky. The structure features a massive, pyramidal glass roof that serves as a literal window to the stars. Below this transparent canopy, the central living area is recessed into the ground, creating a sunken space that offers total visual isolation while maintaining an airy, light-filled atmosphere.
Design Philosophy
The philosophy for the Starhouse is: Vertical Immersion.
By lowering the primary social zone below the ground level, the architecture forces the inhabitant’s gaze upward, turning the sky into the home’s primary decor. The goal was to blend the fortified privacy of a subterranean dwelling with the uninhibited luxury of a glass-walled penthouse.
Technical Achievement
- The Pyramidal Glass Apex: A manually aligned, four-point glass roof system that requires perfect geometric precision to ensure the Starview is centered exactly over the sunken interior.
- Subterranean Leveling: Manual excavation of the lot’s central footprint to create the sunken living room, requiring custom-aligned wall and stair transitions to maintain 100% symmetry.
- Geometric Axial Framing: The dark shingle roof wings act as a heavy, grounding frame for the central glass void, utilizing a stark material contrast to highlight the home’s transparent core.
