Project Overview
Glimmerbrook Watch is a conceptual residential project designed as a Natural Retreat. In a direct departure from modern hyper-connectivity, this home is architecturally stripped of digital infrastructure—containing no computers, phones, or unnecessary outlets. It is a vertical sanctuary built for total intellectual and environmental isolation.
Design Philosophy
The philosophy behind the Watch is: The Analog Space.
By focusing on natural materials and a high-vantage tower silhouette, the architecture encourages a reconnection with the immediate physical environment. The goal was to create a space where the inhabitant’s primary interaction is with the light, the trees, and the stars, rather than a screen.
Technical Achievement
- Biophilic Integration: A central living tree is manually integrated into the tiered deck system, requiring precise structural cut-outs to ensure the architecture grows around the nature rather than displacing it.
- Vertical Organicism: The building utilizes a multi-layered, winding deck system and circular window motifs to break away from traditional box residential shapes, creating a more fluid environment.
- Tiered Observational Terraces: A series of manually aligned wooden verandas that wrap around the central tower, providing 360-degree views of the Glimmerbrook wilderness while maintaining a 100% symmetrical organic footprint.
